Singer Factories - Bonnières, France
In 1935 the US Singer company established a new manufacturing plant in Bonnières, France operated as La Compagnie Singer Société Anonyme. This factory was vertically integrated and could manage all aspects of sewing machine production including electric motors and wooden cases. The factory remained a key part of Singer’s global manufacturing network until it was closed in 1986.
Machines produced at the Bonnières factory have a suffix ‘B’ after their model numbers such as 15B and 191B. They used serial numbers that took the form of SA, SB etc. followed by 6 digits starting at 000001 up to 999999.
